Contaminated Land / Environmental

Site Analytical Services specializes in producing comprehensive Phase 1 Desk Top Study (DTS) Reports, which are standalone documents suitable for submission to governing bodies and financial institutions. These reports are typically required as a planning condition and cover critical aspects such as detailed site history, geology, mining, quarrying, radon gas, hydrogeology, hydrology, flood risk, and environmental sensitivity.

Phase 2 Ground Investigation

The following Phase 2 Ground Investigation is tailored to meet any applicable planning conditions and is informed by recommendations from the Phase 1 Desk Top Study Report. Depending on these recommendations, Phase 2 investigations may include:

  • Trial pitting with mechanical plant
  • Cable/Rotary percussion boreholes
  • Groundwater and ground gas monitoring
  • Testing at UKAS and MCERTS accredited laboratories for geotechnical and contamination analysis

SAS Investigation

We manage all investigation works from start to finish, conducting laboratory-based contamination testing, performing in-situ groundwater and gas monitoring, and providing both factual and interpretive ground investigation reports. If needed, we also conduct Human Health and Controlled Waters Risk Assessments (Generic Quantitative Risk Assessment and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessment) to determine if the site’s ground conditions are suitable for the proposed end use.

SAS possesses the expertise and experience to conduct investigations and provide detailed remedial solutions for any contaminated site. Consistent with our overall approach, we apply practical, commonsense strategies and avoid unnecessary sampling and analysis. We have a strong track record of securing planning consent for contaminated sites without imposing excessive costs or delays on the development process.
